Rachel McKinney Obituary

Mrs. Rachel Ophelia McKinney, 99, of McLemoresville, Tennessee passed away Monday April 2, 2018 at Hardin Medical Center.

Funeral services will be conducted 2:00PM Thursday April 5, 2018 at McLemoresville United Methodist Church.  Interment will follow in McLemoresville Cemetery. Reverend Don Harold Lawrence & Phil Williams officiating.

Mrs. McKinney was born August 28, 1918 to the late Oliver and Annie Williamson Williams in the Big Buck Community in Carroll County. She married Billy F. McKinney February 26, 1938 in McLemoresville, Tennessee. She was a member of the McLemoresville United Methodist Church where she and her husband were youth counselors for about 25 years. She was a member of and president of the United Methodist Women, curator of the Carroll County Museum in McLemoresville, and a member of the McLemoresville-Trezevant FCE, where she served several terms as president. She complied and published The History of McLemoresville, Tennessee, and she wrote articles for the Carroll News Leader for many years.

She was preceded in death by her husband Billy F. McKinney, granddaughter Melissa McKinney Morgan, an infant sister Mary, three brothers James Williams, John Williams, and Billy O. Williams, one sister Annie Maude Smith, her parents Oliver and Annie Williams.

Mrs. McKinney is survived by two sons and one daughter; Jerry McKinney (Patricia) of Madison, AL, Jim McKinney (Nancy) of Trussville, AL and  Emily Lawrence (Don Harold ) of Adamsville, TN; Rhonda Smith (Tom) of McKenzie, TN ; six grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, four great-great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday at McLemoresville United Methodist Church from 5:00PM until 8:00PM and on Thursday at McLemoresville United Methodist Church from 10:00AM until time of services.
