Charles Meihls Obituary

Charles Lee Meihls, age 80, entered heaven to be with his Savior and Lord, Jesus Christ, on Tuesday, April 16, 2024, in Corpus Christi, Texas.

Chuck, as he was known to family and friends, was born in Chicago, Illinois, on August 9, 1943.His parents, Charles Henry Meihls and Fannie Hazel Meihls of Attica, Indiana, preceded him in death.The three sons of Charles and Fannie Meihls,George Lawrence Meihls, Joseph Milton Meihls, Randolph Bernard Meihls, and his sister MarilynThrush of Lafayette, Indiana, also predeceased Chuck.

Having graduated from Attica High School in Attica, Indiana, Chuck then attended Indiana State University in Terre Haute, Indiana, where he met the love of his life, Joanne Neely of Gary, Indiana.On July 17, 1965, Chuck and Joanne were united in holy matrimony.At the time of her death on February 20, 2021, Chuck and Joanne had been married for 55 years.

Chuck is survived by his and Joanne’s three children: E.E. Meihls of Elmwood, Tennessee; Shana S. Fuller (Dane) of Corpus Christi, Texas; and Misti M. Wiggins (Steve) of Collierville, Tennessee; and seven grandchildren: Wyatt (Ali), Ruth, and Asher Wiggins; Olivia Comeaux (Toby); and Joseph, Harrison, and Henry Fuller.Additionally, Chuck is survived by his loving sister, Carolyn Mahoy (Raymond) of Leesburg, Florida, and many dear nieces and nephews.

Music was a special part of Chuck’s daily life. He was a skilled pianist, brass horn player, and drummer in his younger years.His favorite genres of music were Classical, Southern Gospel, and Big Band.He also loved Joanne’s delicious home cooking.Her homemade coconut cream pie was always his favorite.

All who knew him trust that Chuck now lives in heaven, and he will be dearly missed by those he left behind.Chuck and Joanne were members of Bellevue Baptist Church in Cordova, Tennessee. 

Celebration of Life services will be held at Dilday-Carter Funeral Home (731-986-8281) in Huntingdon, Tennessee, on Saturday, May 25, 2024.The family will receive friends from 10:30 AM until the time of the Chapel service at 11:30 AM.Entombment will followat Carroll Memorial Gardens in McKenzie, Tennessee.
