Eugene served in the US Army. He was a long-time farmer and the former owner of The Peacock, in Carthage, IL. From the beginning to end of his life, he loved the St Louis Cardinals and enjoyed listening to the games on the radio. He never turned down a chocolate covered cherry or any other sweet that came across the table. His children still cherish the 2 dollar bills he specifically went to the bank to retrieve for birthdays, as well as sharing his bottle of Pepsi with floating peanuts. His dry sense of humor and laugh will never be forgotten.
