Giles M Carter

Mr. Giles Martin Carter, 88, of Huntingdon passed away on January 14, 2021 at Baptist Memorial Hospital.

Memorial services will be conducted 3:00PM Saturday, January 23, 2021 at Dilday-Carter Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Carter Cemetery. Brother Scott Carter and Brother Bryan Oakes officiating.

Mr. Carter was born on October 17, 1932, to the late Charlie Luther and Lillie Mae Carter. He was a 1950 graduate of Huntingdon High School. He received his BS degree from the University of Tennessee in Knoxville, a Masters degree from Murray State University and his doctorate degree from the University of Southern Mississippi. He was a retired teacher from the Huntingdon School System and taught with the Benton County Adult Basic Education and GED program. He was a US Army veteran and an avid reader.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five brothers, Howard Carter, Gerald Carter, Clarence Carter, John Carter and Harold Carter, three sisters, Clara Foster, Edith Mason and Betty Meggs.

He is survived by a host of nieces and nephews.
