James "Red" Haywood

Mr. James “Red” Haywood, 91, of Huntingdon, Tennessee passed away Sunday May 26, 2024 at Henderson County Community Hospital.

Funeral services will be conducted 2:00PM Thursday May 30, 2024 in the Chapel of Dilday-Carter Funeral Home. Interment will follow in New Hope Cemetery. Brother Dale Denning officiating.

The family will receive friends at Dilday-Carter Funeral Home on Thursday from 11:00AM until time of services at 2:00PM.

Mr. Haywood was born April 5, 1933 in Rosser, Tennessee to the late Roma Haywood and Callie Parish Haywood. Preceded in death by his wives Helen Haywood, Carolyn Haywood and Sharon Haywood; one daughter Donna Hancock; two brothers Troy Haywood and Roy Haywood; two sisters Aron Haywood and Myrtle King. He worked 20 years at Methodist Hospital in Memphis; a 22 year veteran of the Navy serving in Vietnam and two world tours including south pole; standout football player at Huntingdon High School from 1949-1951.

He is survived by one grandson Tim (Brandy) Williams of Hollow Rock, Tennessee; one granddaughter Cassie Marie Hancock of Sylva, North Carolina; two great-grandsons Hunter (Kaydence) Williams of Maryville, Tennessee and Ezekiel Hancock of Sylva, North Carolina; one great-granddaughter Elaina Hancock of Sylva, North Carolina; three great-nieces Teresa McMackins of McKenzie, Tennessee, LaRenda (Mark) Powell of Paris, Tennessee and Angie (David) Perry of Medina, Tennessee.
