Mr. Lewis Wright Carter, 92, of Huntingdon passed away Sunday, December 27, 2020 at Baptist Memorial Hospital.
Funeral Services will be conducted 1:00PM on Wednesday, December 30, 2020 at Dilday-Carter Funeral Home. Brother Scott Carter, Brother Bryan Oakes, and Brother Clint Ezell officiating. Interment will follow at Bethel Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Dilday-Carter Funeral Home on Tuesday, December 29, 2020 from 5:00PM until 8:00PM and on Wednesday, December 30, 2020 from 10:00AM until time of services at 1:00PM.

Mr. Carter was born January 1, 1928 in Huntingdon, TN to the late Howard Carter and Opal Thompson Carter. He owned and operated Carter’s Welding Shop in Huntingdon for 61 years, a member of Bethel Missionary Baptist Church where he taught Sunday School and was Sunday School Superintendent. He served as Director of the Carroll County Farm Bureau, Carroll County Co-op, Member of Huntingdon American Legion, and WWII Veteran.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Adam Coleman Carter.
He is survived by wife of 74 years, Willodean Coleman Carter, two daughters, Susan Lawrence (Reggie), Jennifer Rogers (Bill), and one son, Jeff Carter (Amy) all of Huntingdon, a sister Sylvia Cary of Huntingdon and a brother, William Carter of Somerville. He also leaves 4 grandchildren: Benjamin Lawrence, Jonathan Lawrence, Isaac Carter and Meredith Todd. He also leaves 7 great grandchildren: Morgan Hight, Jack Lawrence, Magnolia Lawrence, Owen Lawrence, Corrie Lawrence, Ethan Coad and Maci Coad.
Honoring Mr. Carter as pallbearers will be Will Carter, Jr., Steve Carter, Benji Lawrence, Jonathan Lawrence, Isaac Carter, and Jack Lawrence. Honorary pallbearers are Jerry White, Glen Mebane, Glen Tippitt, Don Renfroe, Terry Rich, Billy Mac Rich, Glendon Rich, Aaron McClerkin, Gordy Rich, Mike Cary, Mark Cary, and Mitchell Carter.
