Marian Radel Obituary

Marian May Radel, 97, formerly of Napoleon, Ohio passed away peacefully on November 9, 2020 at her residence in McKenzie, Tennessee.  Marian was born in Liberty Center, Ohio to Helen and James Galbraith on June 13, 1923.  She attended Liberty Center and then graduated from Wauseon High School in 1941.  Marian married Charles B. Whitaker on August 12, 1944 in Fresno, California.  He preceded her in death in 1954.  On June 13, 1958 she married John T. Radel in Napoleon, Ohio.  He preceded her in death in 2010.  

After retiring from the Campbell Soup Company in Napoleon, she and John moved to Lima, Ohio before moving to The Villages, Florida in 2000 to enjoy their retirement in the sunshine. She enjoyed bowling, swimming, bocce ball, playing cards, volunteering at hospitals and watching college basketball.   Marian was of the Methodist Faith and was active in her church in her retirement.  In 2018, Marian moved to McKenzie, Tennessee and made many friends while she resided at Lakeside Senior Living Community where she loved to play bingo, exercise and participate in many activities.

Marian is survived by her children: James R. (Sharon) Whitaker of Hilton Head Island, SC, David C. (Tricia) Whitaker of New Philadelphia, MS, William A. (Donna) Whitaker of Mentor, OH, John D. (Glenda) Radel of Trenton, OH and Pamela J. (John) Largen of McKenzie, TN along with 15 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.  Marian was also preceded in death by a son, Thomas W. Radel, and a grandson Michael J. Whitaker.  

A graveside Memorial Service will be held at a later date at the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, Florida.
