Rainey Eugene Edwards

Mr. Rainey Eugene Edwards, 83, of McKenzie, TN passed away on Tuesday, February 1, 2022 at Jackson Madison County General Hospital.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00PM on Sunday, February 6, 2022 in the Chapel of Dilday-Carter Funeral Home. Brother AJ Laster will officiate the service.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, February 6, 2022 at Dilday-Carter Funeral Home from 10:00AM until the time of services at 2:00PM.

Mr. Edwards was born on October 17, 1938 in Hohenwald, TN to the late Fleming Rainey and Sara Hufstedler Edwards. He was a member of Union Friendship Baptist Church, a retired truck driver from Overnite Transportation, and a Army National Guard veteran. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Susan Michelle Edwards; grandson, Cory Thompson; brother, Danny Edwards; and sister, Carolyn Whitehead.

He is survived by his loving wife, Sara Allene Edwards of McKenzie, TN; three daughters: Lisa Dawn Millard of Newnan, GA, Cyndi (Stan) Riggs of McKenzie, TN, and April Michelle (Christopher) Dawson of Killen, AL; three sons, Steve (Donna) Edwards of Puryear, TN, Barry (Bennie) Thompson of Dickson, TN, and Garry (Gina) Thompson of Waverly, TN; two sisters, Suzanne (Stanley) Currin of McKenzie, TN, and Janie Irby of Paris, TN; 15 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to St. Jude.
