Raymond Ramsey Obituary

Mr. Raymond Leo Ramsey, 94, of Clarksburg, Tennessee passed away Saturday, March 7, 2026 at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Huntingdon, Tennessee.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 4:00 PM Sunday, March 15, 2026 at the Clarksburg Church of Christ. An additional Memorial Service will be held in Mulvane, Kansas. The time and date will be announced later.

Raymond was born in Salina, Kansas on January 18, 1932 to the late George Arthur Ramsey and Amy Ada (Narron) Ramsey. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Dorothy Roberta “Bertie” (Lawless) Ramsey; one sister, Anna May Myers; one step-grandson, Brandon Mayo.

Ray is survived by his wife, Sandra Kee Thomas Ramsey; one son, Scott Ramsey of Mulvane, Kansas; two daughters, Leigh Ann (Joe) Dawley of Wichita, Kansas and Julie Ramsey of Whitehall, Montana; one daughter-in-law, Cindy Shanks Ramsey of Mulvane, Kansas; four granddaughters, April West of Mulvane, Kansas, Amy Shannon of Wichita, Kansas, Cassie (Jared) Scism of Guthrie, Oklahoma, Tiffany (Tony) Howlett of Whitehall, Montana; three grandsons, Alex McKee of Kyle, Texas, Michael (Haylee) Ramsey of Mulvane, Kansas, Brandon (Brookelyn) Ramsey of Plaine, Kansas; ten great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; two step-daughters, Teresa (Bob) Mayo and Lisa (Phil) Hickerson; one step-son, David (Amanda) Thomas; ten step-grandchildren; one step-great-granddaughter.

Ray was a devoted Christian, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather as well as a great-great grandfather. His passion was to teach the “Good News” to the lost. He was  a member of the College Hill Church of Christ in Mulvane, Kansas, while he was living in Kansas. He was a member of the Clarksburg Church of Christ after moving to Tennessee.

Ray was a Veteran of the Korean War and a retiree from the United States Postal Service. After his retirement, he enjoyed travelling throughout the United States, especially spending the Winters in Texas and Summers in Colorado.

Ray will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

2 Timothy 4:7 is a testament to the great life he lived:

“I have fought the good fight,

I have finished the race,

I have kept the faith.”
