Shy-Rieka DeBerry Obituary

We are here to celebrate the life of Mrs. Shy-Rieka Amari DeBerry who departed life on November 6, 2021 in Kansas City, MO where she courageously battled brain cancer for 4 years.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00PM on Saturday, November 13, 2021 at Dilday-Carter Funeral Home. Interment will follow in the Humbles Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at Dilday-Carter Funeral Home on Friday, November 12, 2021 from 4:00PM until 8:00PM. 

Miss Shy-Rieka Williams was born to Roger Williams and Lisa Woods Williams on October 21, 1989 in Jackson, TN. She graduated from Huntingdon High School in Huntingdon, TN where she was a member of the Color Guard. She confessed her faith in Christ in 2001 and was baptized in 2005 at Mount Ararat Church in Trezevant, TN. She attended the West Tennessee Business College in Jackson, TN and became a medical assistant at Tri-County. She then followed her love of color guard and became an instructor for Scotts Hill High School.

She was united in Holy Matrimony to James A. DeBerry on December 15, 2012. She was preceded in death by her father, Roger Williams, her maternal grandmother, Alice Faye Rice Hampton, her paternal grandmother, Betty Lou Williams, and her loving lifelong companion, her dog Notic.

She was affectionately known as Shy, Cupcake, Chocolate Drop, and Aunt Mari. She was a diehard Pittsburgh Steelers and Georgia Bulldogs fan.

She leaves to cherish her memories, a devoted and loving husband, Mr. James DeBerry of Kansas City, MO; her mother, Lisa Woods Williams of Huntingdon, TN; two loving sisters, LaSonya Burnett of Liberty, MO and Nyrobi Williams of Huntingdon, TN; two brothers, Brian Sherron of Clarksville, TN and Benjamin Sherron of Humboldt, TN; and her aunt (Aunt Champ) Charlene Woods of Jacksonville, FL. She leaves also in loving memory her nieces, Pharah Person of Liberty, MO and Angelina Amaia Sherron of Clarksville, TN, and her nephews: Tybarious Williams, Alek Williams, Hendrix Williams all of Huntingdon, TN, Marquis Hubbard of Waterloo, IA, and Brian Sherron, III of Trenton, TN , who all affectionately called her Aunt Mari; her grandfathers, Charles (Su) Woods of Savannah, GA, and Steve Hampton of Huntingdon, TN; Paul (Pam) Williams, Greg (Karen) Williams, Shelia Williams, Doris Williams, Joe Q. Williams all of Huntingdon, TN ,and LaVanda (Ashley) Williams of Paducah, KY; and a host of paternal uncles, aunts, cousins, and close friends.

She also leaves her friends she saw as sisters and brothers, Jilly and Kristen Thomas, Joann Allen, Rachel Avalon, Cassandra Johnson, Gretchen Peterson, Jasmine Govan, Katie Hammond, Shakria Lewis, Xavier Keys, Kayla Williams, Matthew Weathers, Terrell Johnson, Iesha Bond, Trevor Slaten, Aur’ree White, Cierra Brynne, and so many more.

Most of all, she leaves a special great aunt, Evangelist Ruthie Stem, who never left her bedside for the past two weeks and helped take care of her until God called his angel home.
