Mrs. Sylvia Felts Taylor, 87, of Yuma passed away Sunday, July 26, 2020, at Life Care Center in Bruceton.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Howard Henry Felts and Georgia Goldsby Felts; and two brothers, James Howard Felts and Charles Allen Felts.
She is survived by her husband of 68 years, Aubrey Taylor; two daughters, Karen (Marty) Steele of Yuma and Laurinda (Jack) Ingram of Germantown; and three grandchildren, Amanda Steele, John Ingram, and William Ingram.
Following graduation from McKenzie High School in 1950, Mrs. Taylor attended Bethel College in pursuit of a nursing degree. However, after meeting her future husband, she opted instead for marriage and devoted herself to family and home.
Mrs. Taylor grew up working at Felts Drug Store in McKenzie and worked there until 1956. She then worked at Jackson PCA in Huntingdon from 1956 until 1958. In 1959 she began work as a Postmaster Leave Replacement for the Yuma Post Office and worked there until her retirement in 1998.
Mrs. Taylor was a Christian who accepted Jesus as her Lord and Savior at a young age. She was a member of Davis Chapel United Methodist Church in Huntingdon. Among other contributions, she was instrumental in establishing the church’s John M. Davis Memorial Library.
Due to Covid concerns, a private family service will be held.
